Video Journalist

I am a video journalist and documentary filmmaker from Singapore, based in Ukraine.
I began my career at Reuters Video News in Tokyo, from 2014-2018 - covering everything from breaking news, politics, sports, tech, and natural disasters, to early morning tuna auctions and deer hunting. I moved to Beijing in the summer of 2018 to learn Mandarin and begin my freelance work.
In 2019, I spent months reporting on the anti-government protests in Hong Kong, and my work for German broadcaster ZDF was honored by the Hanns Joachim Friedrichs Prize. When the covid-19 pandemic hit, I reported on the virus' toll from Japan and China. In 2021, I covered the unprecedented pandemic Summer Olympics and Paralympics in Tokyo, and on the virus' rapid spread in the Japanese capital. I covered stories on human rights, surveillance, climate change, and politics in China. My work has been published by Reuters, The Washington Post, The New York Times, The Straits Times, ZDF, ITV, Scripps News, Deutsche Welle, Channel News Asia and more.
After moving to Kyiv in the fall of 2023, I spent a little over a year filming, editing, and delivering TV packages to broadcast clients, along with live reports on the latest news in Ukraine. I am now working on several documentary projects.
I have a degree in Oil Painting from Tama Art University; and a masters degree in Journalism and Political Science from Waseda University.
I am HEFAT-trained, and I speak English, Japanese, and some Mandarin.
